GFRIEND was a six-member girl group formed by Source Music, consisting of Sowon, Yerin, Eunha, Yuju, SinB, and Umji. They debuted in 2015 with "Glass Bead" and became one of the defining girl groups of the mid-2010s.

The group was known for a clean, emotional pop sound and tightly synchronized choreography. Their early school trilogy built a strong public identity around innocence, speed, and precision, while later releases matured the sound without fully abandoning the melodic style that made them recognizable.

GFRIEND's impact came from both music and performance. Songs like "Me Gustas Tu," "Rough," and "Navillera" made the group a major name, while Yuju's vocals and the team's choreography helped set a standard for performance discipline among girl groups of the period.

The fandom is known as BUDDY. GFRIEND disbanded after leaving Source Music in 2021, but later reunion activity kept the group's legacy active. They remain a major third-generation girl group with a clear musical identity, not only a contract-history footnote.
