Moon Taeil is a retired South Korean singer. Formerly a member of NCT under SM Entertainment, he served as the group's main vocalist as well as its sub-units NCT U and NCT 127. He debuted in April 2016 and later joined NCT 127 in July the same year.

On August 28, 2024, SM Entertainment officially announced his departure from NCT, citing his involvement in a criminal case related to a sexual offense.

Legal proceedings revealed that in June 2024, Taeil and two others sexually assaulted a heavily intoxicated foreign tourist, a charge classified as aggravated quasi-rape under South Korean law. In October 2024, SM Entertainment formally terminated his exclusive contract with the company, stating that the situation had irreparably damaged trust.

During the June 18, 2025 court hearing, Taeil admitted guilt, and prosecutors sought a sentence of up to seven years. His sentencing took place on July 10, 2025, where he was handed 3 years and 6 months in prison, along with additional penalties including a 40-hour sexual violence treatment program and a five-year prohibition on working with children or youth-related institutions.
